CALL COURSE OVERVIEW

This CALL course is really helpful for a would-be teacher who wants to learn new educational technologies or for a teacher who has difficulties in handling technologies in class. CALL introduced the use of a number of technologies which can be integrated into classroom such programs as Power point, Blogger, Socrative, Canvas…ETC. Moreover, this course helped students to get started with curriculum development using new technologies.

Pros

The most beneficial aspects of CALL was that students were able to understand most of applications and create their own work during or after class such as making their blogs, socrative quizes and digital storytellings. By examining the pros and the cons of each application, students could have more clear insights into each item as well. The use of technology empowers students to take responsibility for their own learning.

Cons

One drawback to this course was that 10week , time was not provided enough to be accustomed to make best use of all of technology platforms.

Overview

As the computers are increasingly being incorporated into school curriculums, teachers need to be more knowledgeable and skilled on how to utilize technology in class. Technology instructions through CALL showed how to integrate blogging, video and audio editing, as well as some educational games to create and present information in more creative and engaging ways.

REVIEW OF SCREEN O MATIC

Description:

Screencast o matic is a useful screen recording application. The process of producing the sceencasts is fun and eassy with screen o matic. Users decide to position the recording box on your screen where you want it and click the red record button. The video recordings can be accompanied by audio narration for step-by-step procedural instructions.
Pros:
Screen O matic has a good feature that users are able to include captions. Teachers can use captions for inserting additional explanations on a topic of screencast and also can give a feedback to students’ assignments by adding comments. It has a converting feature that users are able to change the recorded item into formats like MP4, AVI, FLV, GIF. Besides the recordings can be uploaded to video-sharing web sites like youtube.
Cons:

In screen o matic, basic editing tools such as cutting and zooming the sections are available. However, Users should make sure its in the right place before they save recording because any changes are not possible once user hit the record button.
Overall feelings:

Screen o matic can be used for a variety of educational purposes. Teachers can provide instructive demonstration, present orientation and make assignments that require students to produce a screencast. It can make lectures more visual and engaging to enhance students understanding during class.  Because of its ease of use, even beginners can simply create screenshots as they want to show and share with others.

Review of CANVAS ( Student Perspectives! )

Description:
Canvas is an online course management program commonly used for providing learning resources at anytime and from anywhere. To describe canvas from students' perspectives, canvas makes students easier to check their course schedules such as exam date and due date of assignment and also to check their grades. Besides students can receive learning materials and can contact with the teacher and classmates through canvas.

Pros:
By accessing the canvas, students are able to keep track of current, past and coming course activities. In case of not attending class, canvas helps student to figure out what has happened on that day and what to do for next lesson. Another beneficial feature is promoting more chances to communicate between students and teachers, since canvas has communicative tools such as discussions, chat, collaborations, and conferences.

Cons:
The drawback that I found in canvas was that people could make more than one account with different user name which might cause some confusions in logging in.

Overall feeling:
I think canvas has many competitive features that are available to support students' learning.
One of best features, like discussion  encourages students to give some suggestions or feedback on the course-related issues. Students will more actively participate in course activities and assignment requested by themselves.
