Description:
Socrative is a formative assessment system rapildy used in classroom with internet connected devices. Teachers can create quizzes or use shared ones from other teachers in this application. Then students are allowed to access the Room to answer the quizzes and surveys. The result of all activities can be immediately shown on the screen and sent via email for later analysis.
Pros:
Socrative is a user-friendly tool in that it is quick and simple to create activities and use other functions as well. Moreover it is a very interactive tool that both the teachers and students can engage class with a variety of educational games and excercises. Once students enter the room a teacher made, they are required to think for answering quizzes and poll questions.
Cons:
The disadvantage of Socrative is a technical limitation. It is not available for large classes that have more than 50 users.
Overall feeling:
Although Socrative is not appropriate for large group assessment, it is a powerful response program that teachers can get instant data on how their students are progressing in class and class feedback is useful to plan further class activities more targeted.
